This is one of the "enhanced sidewalks", according to the administration, in Kaningos square. This square, located at the heart of Athens, is turned at that time into a huge underground parking. The administration informed us that this project is considered as beneficial for the pedestrians!
This is Klafthmonos square, few hundred metres away from Kaningos square. It has already an underground garage beneath. According to studies many drivers prefer to park their cars and motorcycle illegally, though there may exist legal parking places, because this is proven more economical, due to inadequate law enforcement (or perhaps they find some way for not paying the ticket)
